Targeted Tattoo Fading
Cover-Up Preparation & Laser Fading -get the optimal base for your new ink
Get the optimal base for your new ink
If you’re planning a new tattoo over an existing design, especially one that’s dark, dense or healed unevenly, the difference between an “okay result” and a vibrant, clean new piece often lies in preparation.
At InkZero we use the advanced Lutronic Hollywood Spectra laser system and medically trained technicians to fade and optimise your existing tattoo -preserving skin integrity and giving your tattoo artist the cleanest possible canvas.
Why fade before a cover-up?
Old ink layers, saturated blacks or poorly healed work can limit your artist’s options: design size, colour brightness, line clarity and shading all become harder.
By using targeted laser fading you gain:
⦿ improved design freedom for your artist
⦿ more vibrant new colours (old pigment is less likely to “bleed through”)
⦿ better blending and detail in the final art
⦿ less risk of ink build-up blurring the outcome
Medically Instructed Tattoo Fading, Repair & Removal preparing your skin for new expression.
How many sessions will you need?
Due to individual factors (ink age, depth, colours, skin type, desired new design) the number of sessions varies. As a guide:
- If only mild fading is needed: 1-3 sessions
- For heavier saturation or large area coverage: 4-6 sessions or more
We’ll give a realistic estimate at your consult.

Why a Medical Laser is so important...
Your skin is not just a surface – it is the largest organ of your body.
It protects, regulates, heals, and forms a physical and biological barrier.
This is why we work with medical technology and staged protocols:
The goal is not simply to erase ink, but to preserve the integrity, elasticity, and long-term function of healthy skin.
Meet the Lutronic Hollywood Spectra
We use the Lutronic Hollywood Spectra – an advanced pico + nanosecond laser platform.
This allows for:
• more efficient fragmentation of carbon black
• less heat in surrounding tissue
• controlled, incremental energy rather than aggressive peaks
• reduced risk of structural changes to the skin
Our approach is not “burn it out quickly.”
Our approach is: Protect the skin, micro-fragment pigments for removal by macrophages.
Estimating Your Treatment Cost
Many factors influence how much it will cost to achieve your desired result from tattoo size, to pigments and depth of placement.
At your free initial consult we will perform a detailled assesment and estimate how many sessions we believe will be required.
At each session we will also evaluate and advise on the overall progress and adjust this estimate if required.

Our Approach
We work with tattoo artists, not against them.
Your pathway:
Consultation - we assess your existing tattoo: size, depth, colour saturation, skin healing. We may also perform a small patch test using the Hollywood Spectra to check your skin-response.
Staged laser sessions - using the Hollywood Spectra’s pico + nano pulses, we gradually fragment pigment with minimal thermal spread. Sessions typically spaced 6-10 weeks apart to allow optimal healing.
Ready for new ink - when sufficient fading is achieved, your tattoo artist can start the cover-up. We coordinate timing and provide you with skin-preparation advice so the new ink lays smoothly.
Aftercare & follow-up - between sessions you’ll follow tailored skin care to optimise healing and minimise downtime.
